As ever, we are delighted with the examination results our students achieved this year. Our average IB points score was 40.6, ten points above the world average, and more than half of our examinations were graded the maximum 7 points. This was one of our largest cohorts (216 pupils), and we are very pleased to have achieved this level of success across the group.
Our GCSE results were again record-breaking this year, with 74% graded at A*, and one third of our students receiving ten A*’s or more. At the same time, as you know, our focus is very much on the all-round education of our students who leave us as confident, articulate, interesting young people.
We do not, on principle, participate in league tables, but it is worth noting that these results position us as one of the top schools in the UK and global IB league tables.
Higher Education update Our students continue to receive offers from the world’s top universities including, this year, 49 offers from Oxford and Cambridge universities and five from Stanford. This is an outstanding endorsement of a Sevenoaks education! Students have also been particularly successful at Durham (90 offers) and UCL (90 offers), and Yale, UCLA, Harvard, U Penn and Columbia in the US. We were particularly pleased that our students received 46 offers for medicine and veterinary science: every student who applied for medicine received at least one offer, and some received three.
Co-Curricular News Our co-curricular programme is a fundamental part of our education, and sport at Sevenoaks continues to go from strength to strength. The school has recently been ranked as the country’s eighth best independent school for sport by School Sport Magazine (an improvement of ten places from last year) and Sevenoaks is also ranked as the best co-educational school for sport in the South-East. Our students also had some fantastic sporting achievements last term, including several who competed at the nationals for various events including tennis, athletics, sailing and beach volleyball!
In terms of music and drama, we have a number of events this year, including an innovative production of Jane Eyre in October, and our Mighty Orchestra concert on 1 December. You and your child are welcome to attend any of these productions.
